'Until the Very End.'

The time is nearly upon us...that's right the final installment of the Harry Potter films is less than a month away and I've hardly been able to hold the fan-girl in me back. I channeled that energy to make some tribute art. This is my submission for the Gallery Nucleus tribute show.

The passage 'The Forest Again' was always so incredibly moving to me. I wanted to capture Harry's silent bravery and moment of reflection. As he prepares to face Voldemort, the spirits of his family act as patronuses. giving him the courage needed for this final act. I hope you enjoy!

Medium: Graphite and Gouache on BFK Rives

earning my 10kh as Malcolm Gladwell would say...

So I've been taking nightly life drawing classes at the old Safe House Atelier with Mr. Carl Dobsky. It's been amazing. It has changed the way I perceive volume and and the process of translating that with careful value transistions.  You begin with a block-in and don't proceed  until your proportions are perfect. This method is an alternative to simply mapping value and forcing you to think of the science behind volume and ligtht. Anyway a long way to go but can see how it's improving my work already!

Revised character

A couple months ago I had a crit with Carl Dobsky and Jon Foster over at CA.org and I revised this character after that. The only criticism was that his legs felt awkward. I repainted them and looked more closely at jungle cat references instead of dinosaur refs... the last one is the revised one...anyway, here is the revised, post crit version:
